Develop a 3rd Quarter Frame of Mind

Welcome to July, the beginning of the third quarter. Sure, this is the time for sun, fun, picnics, and vacations, but it is also the perfect opportunity to take a serious look at where your business stands today and what you need to do for the rest of the year.

(I mean, if not now, when!?)

A close look at your numbers might indicate that all is going incredibly well and you are on target to meet or even exceed your 2015 goals. Terrific. The flip side is that an inspection of your numbers might show that you are lagging behind where you should be right now, and at this pace, you will fall short at year-end.

There’s no cause for alarm (well, maybe just a little!) because it’s Q3, and there is still plenty of time to turn things around. The key factor is knowing where you stand and recognizing that you MUST take action to set things right. But there’s no time to waste either. Maybe it’s because I am getting older, but the months seem to fly by ridiculously fast, and almost before I know it, the new year is looming ahead.

So let’s get started, and if you feel that you could do better in this second half of the year, then some of these tactics might be right for you. Need any help—chat with me.

Be a Better Networker

Networking is crucial in sales. Attend industry events, join professional groups, and leverage social media to connect with potential clients and industry influencers. Effective networking is about building genuine relationships, not just exchanging business cards.

Qualify Your Suspects and Prospects More Diligently

Not every lead will turn into a sale. It’s essential to qualify your suspects and prospects more diligently. Focus your efforts on those who have a genuine need for your product or service, the budget to purchase it, and the authority to make the buying decision.

Examine Your Expenses

Take a close look at your expenses to see what (if anything) can be cut. Reducing unnecessary costs can free up resources that you can invest in more critical areas of your business, like marketing or new technology.

Prospect More

Commit to making five more outreach attempts each day. Whether it’s through cold calls, emails, or social media messages, increased prospecting will open more doors and generate more opportunities.

Ask for Help Where You Need It

No one can do everything alone. If you need help with sales, accounting, marketing, writing, or operations, don’t hesitate to ask for it. Hiring a professional or seeking advice from a mentor can provide new insights and solutions.

Examine Your Sales Competencies

Take an honest look at your sales skills. Are there areas where you could improve? Investing in training or professional development can enhance your capabilities and boost your confidence.

Explore New Marketing Strategies

If your current marketing tactics aren’t delivering the desired results, it might be time to explore new strategies. Consider content marketing, influencer partnerships, or even rebranding.

Don’t Rely on One Tactic

Diversify your approach. Don’t COUNT on any one tactic working by itself. A multi-faceted strategy increases your chances of success.

Be a Better Swimmer in the Social Media Pool

Social media is a powerful tool for connecting with your audience. Engage regularly, share valuable content, and interact with your followers. Social media isn’t just about self-promotion; it’s about building a community.

Deploy Exquisite Touch Point Management

Don’t allow yourself to fall off the grid. Consistent communication with your prospects and clients through emails, newsletters, or calls ensures you stay top of mind.

Create Great Content

Quality content attracts and engages your audience. If you can’t do it yourself, get help. Hire a writer or use content creation tools to produce high-quality articles, videos, and social media posts.

Stay Motivated

Stay motivated and don’t allow yourself to wallow in your own negativity. Set achievable goals, celebrate small wins, and remind yourself of your successes.

Surround Yourself with Positive People

Positive influences can boost your morale and inspire you to keep pushing forward. Seek out mentors, colleagues, or friends who encourage and support you.

Try Something New

Don’t be afraid to experiment. Trying something new in your business can lead to unexpected successes. Be creative and open to new ideas.

Get Healthy and Stay Healthy

Your physical health impacts your performance. Maintain a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient rest.

Be Brutally Honest

Don’t BS yourself. Be brutally honest about your progress and areas that need improvement. Self-awareness is crucial for growth.

Ask for Referrals

Referrals are a powerful way to generate new business. Don’t hesitate to ask satisfied clients to refer you to others.

Develop a Comprehensive Prospecting Plan

Create a detailed plan of attack for prospecting. Identify your target market, set clear goals, and outline the steps you need to take.

Mine the Gold in Your Existing Accounts

Your existing clients can be a goldmine. Look for opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, or provide additional services.

Reactivate Dormant Accounts

Reach out to past clients who haven’t purchased in a while. A friendly reminder or special offer might reignite their interest.

Smile More

A positive attitude is contagious. Smile more, and you’ll find it easier to build rapport and connect with others.

Be Generous with Networking Introductions

Helping others by making valuable introductions can build goodwill and strengthen your network. Generosity often comes back in the form of opportunities and referrals.

The third quarter is a time for reflection and action. Pick three of these to work on right now.

By implementing these strategies, you can set yourself up for a strong finish to the year.
